About me

I’m a front-end developer based in Canada.

My career started as a highly addictive hobby. Even though I had been developing websites since I was a teen, when the time came to go to University, I did not persuade Computer Science (frustration warning!) instead, I went to Architecture school. That decision actually turned out to be an asset for me as a developer. Modern UX and UI concepts are heavily based on Architectural ones and I feel likeI have an understanding of artistic and structural concepts that I would not have had I purely studied the technical side of websites – I also had the opportunity to develop very cool skills like drawing and painting, which I love.

Before WordPress came around, you’d find me creating simple websites on geocities, xoom, blog and finally in my own self-hosted domains.
Little by little, I started taking up clients here and there but mostly just playing around with my NUMEROUS websites – at one point of my life I owned 26 domains.

WordPress quickly became my favorite tool. Like many new developers probably do these days, I started downloading theme after theme (after theme, after theme…) and I would modify them to get them to look the way I wanted. I remember resisting CSS when it first came out, which is funny because I live and breathe CSS, but I would never give up until I got the sites to look the way I wanted them to! That kept going on up until the day when I just found it easier to start my themes from a blank notepad. Oh, yes, I obviously resisted Dreamweaver and later Visual Studio Code for a significant amount of time – also funny.

Next thing you know, 20-something years had gone by and this was my full-time job…

I am still mostly resisting react and vue.
